2012 SARGENT ART BRIGHTER WORLD ONLINE ART CONTEST
Submit digital photographs of all 2D Artwork created in the classroom

Dear Art Teacher,

Welcome and Congratulations!

You have taken the first step towards making yourself eligible to win a trip to visit New York Art Museums along with one of your creatively talented students and one parent of the student.

All teachers teaching Art in the schools, Kindergarten through Grade 12, are eligible to submit their student artwork for this contest. Each teacher can send as many entries as desired.

Only art teachers are eligible to submit their students' entries.

All 2D Artwork created in the Classroom is eligible.
Categories: Elementary (K - 5); Middle (6 – 8); High (9 – 12)
Theme: All 2D artwork created in the classroom is eligible
Deadline: May 15th, 2012
 

Guidelines for digital submissions

Please download the Parent Consent Form, have it filled in neat, legible print, signed by the parent(s) of the student and submit a digital photograph of the form before you submit the student artwork.

Only digital photographs of 2-D artwork are eligible for this contest.

Photographs, digitally created artwork and print-making using Inks are NOT eligible.

Eligible drawings, paintings or collage using any or multiple of the following media –

Tempera paint, Acrylic paint, Watercolor, Liquid Watercolor, Finger paint, Powder paint, Crayons, Colored Pencils, Oil Pastels, Chalk Pastels, Markers, Chalk, Glue and Glitter Glue

 

Each submission must include the following –

1. A digital photograph of the Parent Consent form filled completely in neat, legible print and signed by the parent(s) of the student
2. Teacher's entry form filled completely online and signed electronically by the Art Teacher
3. Digital photograph of the student artwork in the appropriate format outlined below
 
Format for the digital photograph of the artwork -

While taking the photograph, the camera lens should be parallel to the artwork surface. Do not angle the lens as this distorts the image. Experiment with a variety of lighting to see what works best. Avoid camera flash back or images that are too dark. Fill the frame of the camera with the artwork.

For artwork that will fit on a bed of a digital scanner, scan the image at 100%.

Sargent Art requests that images are ONLY altered in the following ways –

Orientation: Work should be rotated properly so that a work is not laying on its side while viewing. Re-orientation during adjudication may not be possible, or may distort the dimensions of the image.
Cropping: Crop background other than the artwork
 
JPG Files –
JPG should be captured by a 2+ mega pixel camera. Set camera for "fine" or "extra fine" resolution and not "web" or "normal"
1. Image Print size: Image Print size: Each JPG file must be at least 1500 x 2100 pixels
2. Image quality: Image quality: Should be at 300 dpi
3. File Size: File Size: Each JPG file should be no greater than 6 megabytes
   
Please download the Parent Consent form, get it filled in neat, legible print and signed by the parent(s) of the student and submit a digital photograph of the Parent Consent for before filling and submitting the Teacher Entry Form along with the student artwork
  One Parent Consent form is required per student
  Multiple entries by the same student must be listed neatly on the same Parent Consent form

Prize structure from Sargent Art
Grand Prize: A trip to visit New York Art Museums for the winner along with the Art Teacher and one parent of the winning student
One Top Prize in each Category – Elementary, Middle and High: Winner's Certificate for the winner as well as Sargent Art supplies for the winner and the Art Teacher
International entries are NOT eligible for the Grand Prize (New York Art Museums visit) International entries are eligible for the Category Prizes in each category
Details of the 2012 Grand Prize – The trip to New York Art Museums would include the following -
Airline ticket from a USA airport nearest to the school to a New York area airport and back for the winning student, one parent and Art teacher booked and paid by Sargent Art; or fuel reimbursement (pre-determined by Sargent Art) from the school address to the hotel and back for, the parent of the winning student and Art teacher paid by Sargent Art after the trip
Hotel in the New York area for the winner and one parent in one room; and for Art teacher in a separate room – both rooms paid by Sargent Art
Transportation from New York area airport to the hotel and back to the airport arranged by Sargent Art
All meals arranged and paid by Sargent Art
Transportation and entries to the pre-decided Art Museums in New York arranged and paid by Sargent Art
Possibility of including a sightseeing trip to see a famous monument like the Statue of Liberty at the discretion of Sargent Art

2012 Sargent Art Brighter World Online Art Contest Terms and Conditions:
Entries to be submitted by the Art Teacher Only
All aspects of eligibility of Artwork is final and binding by Sargent Art
Prizes (details, value and actual items) to be decided by Sargent Art – All decisions final
All persons traveling to New York (student, parent and teacher) are required to sign a Waiver of Liability to be eligible to receive this prize; not signing the Waiver of Liability will result in forfeiture of the prize and the New York Art Museums trip
All prizes are non-transferable, non-changeable, and non-negotiable. No substitutions will be made.
Any conflict with the dates of the New York Art Museums trip will result in the forfeiture of the prize and the New York Art Museums trip
All decisions regarding details of the New York Art Museums trip, the Grand Prize, (including but not limited to dates, timings, airline, hotel, eating/dining places, and transportation) to be decided by Sargent Art – No individual requests will be entertained
Any disabilities, medical conditions, special requirements to be communicated to Sargent Art within one week of announcement of the Prizes; delay in communicating the aforementioned will result in forfeiture of the prize and the New York Art Museums trip
The Grand Prize winning student will travel with the parent – in the event of either one (winning student or parent) requiring or being unable to travel to New York, both the student and parent will forfeit the prize and the New York Art Museums trip irrespective of the age of the student
No additional person would be permitted to travel with the Grand Prize winner, parent of the winner or the teacher of the Grand Prize winner
Sargent Art reserves the indisputable right to change the terms and conditions of the 2012 Sargent Art Brighter World Online Art Contest and all or any aspects related to the said contest at any time.
The signature(s) of the parent(s) on the Parent Consent form and the submission of the Teacher Entry form electronically will be considered a mutually binding agreement between the student, parent(s) and teacher on the one hand and Sargent Art on the other to uphold and honor the abovementioned terms and conditions of the 2012 Sargent Art Brighter World Online Art Contest.
